A day off of school

We have an above ground pool in our backyard, and Chad and the girls spent the weekend draining, cleaning and refilling it. As of this morning it is finally full, and the girls had two of their best friends over to sleep last night (they are sisters and homeschooled as well). They begged to take the day off of school so that they could swim. Since they are almost done (they are actually completely done with a few subjects) I said yes : ) They are out there as I speak, freezing their hiney's off LOL It is overcast, and the water hasn't had any time to warm up. It usually takes until the middle of June for the water to be warm enough for me to get in. But you know kids, they will suffer to swim, at least mine will LOL The pool is actually a life saver in July and August, when it is so hot and humid down here in Louisiana, the only way you want to go outside is if you are in the water. It helps with boredom and is good exercise.

Oh, and I just realized that I was delusional last night when I was making my list of sewing for the week. This week is ballet recital week, which means rehearsals on Thursday, Friday and the actual recital on Saturday. I have 3 girls in ballet, so that is hair and makeupX3, which will take me a good hour each time. So, any sewing I get done will have to get done by Wednesday and then I probably won't see my sewing machine again until Sunday, if I 'm not too exhausted LOL Throw in my normal duties as the homeschooling mom of 7, and I kind of want to cry! Not really, but it will be a busy week : )

I didn't quite finish my top today, but almost. I only have the zipper and hem left, I should get that done tomorrow.

Dh took 2 of the boys crabbing this morning. They caught 8 dozen blue crabs! I love boiled crabs, in a minute that is what we will be eating : ) YUM!

I've been wanting to go crabbing for so long! Looks so good! Your top is turning out so pretty-can't wait to see it on you! Sounds like you're gonna be pretty busy-good luck with the post a day with that schedule!

I just made myself sick, I ate so many! My hands are all cut up, but it was worth it. We still have several dozen that we boiled and put in the freezer.

I think I may not make my post a day toward the end of the week, I will try, but it won't be easy!

Hi Tonya, Thank you again for taking the time to leave a comment about my blog...so nice of you! We both are "kindred spirits" when it comes to that lovely kitchen too! I so enjoyed your blog today! We now live in California, but a few years ago lived in a very rural area of upstate New York. We also put in an above the ground pool & were so glad when those hot, humid summers were upon us!!! And my family was exactly like yours!...tempting to swim when the water was ice cold!? No amount of lecturing will convince them! Also am so impressed!...do you really make a list of the pieces you want to finish sewing within the week?...What a great idea!! I start, with the best intentions, but never get done with as much as I want to! I am going to try it!...and your fabrics, so pretty!...And your dress...Love anything with "pleats"! Sorry for the crazy long comment! I am off to make my sewing list!...heidi :)

That blouse is beautiful (such yummy fabric)! The crabs look great too. We realized yesterday that our kids have never tasted crab (without a "k"!). We grew up in the Northwest and had them all the time but our kids have grown up in Arizona. There's just nothing like crab meat is there?

Looks like the kids had lots of fun in the pool! It's much to cold up in Minnesota to even think of setting up the pool yet. I love the fabric you are using from your top. Looks great!

Yum! I love crab too -but then, who doesn't?!
That pool must be a favourite, it looks huge!

I'm a little out of the blogging-mode these days (daycare-feeling-like-a-crappy-mom-syndrome), so I have considered maybe just posting pictures on the really stressful days... And thank you so much for yoour email!
